Our 4th travel tour takes us north to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to visit two important Midwest homes - the Pabst Mansion and the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum.
Beer baron Frederick Pabst commissioned George Bowman Ferry to create his palatal residence in the Flemish Renaissance Revival style at a cost of $254,000 which included furnishings and artwork. Completed in 1892 the 20,000 square foot residence, it is currently a museum on the National Register of Historic Places.
Enroute back to Chicago, our second stop takes us to the Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum which was designed and built in the style of an Italian Renaissance villa by architect David Adler in 1923. The museum features fine and decorative arts dating from the 15th through the 18th centuries, wrought-iron masterpieces by Cyril Colnik, the Renaissance Garden, and changing exhibitions.
Fee includes guided tours, lunch and round-trip transportation by motor coach with lavatory from the Driehaus Museum.
